Who you are writing to

Every message sent through this page goes to one desk and is read by one person, which is the same person who wrote whatever prompted you to write in. There is no support queue, no ticket number, and nothing automated beyond the message that confirms the note arrived.

That has one consequence worth stating up front: replies come during desk hours and not outside them. The desk is open Monday through Wednesday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Hawaii Standard Time. Hawaii does not change its clocks, so that offset stays the same all year while most of the mainland moves around it. A note sent on Thursday afternoon is answered the following Monday.

What gets answered fastest

Corrections come first. If a road has closed, a reservation system has changed, or a detail in a story has stopped being true, that is the most useful mail this site receives and it is dealt with the same session it is read. Corrections are published at the top of the affected story with the date.

Notes about a piece come next, and they get proper answers rather than acknowledgements. Requests to reuse a photograph are answered individually and usually within a week, since each one needs a decision rather than a policy.

What is not going to happen here

This is a journal and not a service, so a few common requests have to be turned down clearly rather than politely ignored.

Nothing can be booked, reserved, held, or paid for through this desk, and no part of this site can arrange any element of a trip. There is no partnership with a booking platform to hand you on to.

Trip planning requests cannot be answered. This is not modesty about the work involved, it is that a stranger's itinerary depends on conditions, budgets, dates and abilities that a writer on the other side of an inbox has no way of knowing, and a confident answer from here would be worth less than a careful hour with local sources.

Guest posts, link exchanges, sponsored placements and paid mentions are all declined without exception. So is any offer to insert a link into an existing story. None of that will be answered, and it is not a negotiating position.

Postal mail and telephone

Postal mail reaches the publisher at 745 Fort Street, Honolulu, HI 96813, United States. It is collected weekly rather than daily, so anything time sensitive is better sent by email.

The telephone line is answered during the same desk hours and goes unanswered outside them. It is a working number and not a hotline, and email is genuinely the better channel for anything that needs a considered reply.

Data requests and privacy

Requests about personal information, including access, correction, deletion, and opt out requests under state privacy laws, go to [clerk@kruegertravel.com](mailto:clerk@kruegertravel.com) rather than the general desk. That address exists so those requests are handled in one place and inside the time limits the law sets, and the Privacy Policy explains what happens to each type of request.

If you write to the general address about a data matter it will still be handled, it will simply take a little longer to get to the right place.

Media, permissions and reuse

Photographs on this site are the property of Krueger Editions LLC and are not licensed for reuse by default. That includes reposting a frame with credit, which is still reuse.

Requests are welcome and are considered one at a time. Say where the image would appear, for how long, and in what context, and the answer will come with a plain yes or no rather than a rate card. Short quotations from the writing with a link back are fine without asking, provided the quotation is genuinely short and the meaning is not reversed by the cut.
